Coffee Tampers
A tamper is the last thing that touches the coffee before the water does, and an uneven tamp undoes everything the grinder and the machine just got right. An automatic tamper applies the same pressure, level, on every dose, so the shot the barista pulls at four in the afternoon matches the one they dialled in at seven in the morning. It also takes the repetitive strain of several hundred tamps a day off the barista's wrist.
